Westerville small business owners have a gift card problem.
While January marks a month of gift card spending for most retailers, that trend has not made its way to Uptown.
Despite selling more than $15,000 worth of Uptown gift cards — accepted at 10 different Uptown Westerville businesses — over the last six years, about $8,000 of those cards have yet to be redeemed.
And though it may seem that the businesses would come out ahead on that transaction, they’re actually not making anything.
