City Hall Parking Lot
The most visible construction project in Uptown is the expansion of the parking lot behind city hall. Contractors recently completed installation of new sewer, fiber optic, water, gas, and utility lines to city hall and the lot and will begin the next week laying the sublayers for the new lot.
8 State Bistro
One of the most anticipated and delayed projects in Uptown is 8 State Bistro in the old State Theater building. Now that the floors are poured and inspected carpenters are building walls for the kitchen and restrooms with the electricians ready to begin wiring. Although the date isn’t firm, expect an opening by December.
Everything else
Whit’s Frozen Custard is rapidly building new walls and a customer counter as it hopes for an opening before winter so everyone can enjoy their frozen delights.
Asterisks has several demolition projects to complete before it can begin rebuilding the main dining area. Removing stucco revealed the original 1927 red brick which adds a much more warm and richer atmosphere to the planned Supper Club.
Shirley’s Gourmet Popcorn completely demolished the interior of its building to convert it to a kitchen and sales space. Included in the rebuild is a two-hour firewall requirement because of the upstairs office and possible apartments.
The jeweler storefront sits idle.
What about NorthStar?? Will they ever start that restaurant??
Here’s an update.
