Early in the season at the Uptown Westerville Farmers Market features a variety of seasonal items before the arrival of the first crops of the season.
Among the early arrivals are first of the season greens such as lettuce, chard, and bokchoi. Cold weather kept rhubarb and asparagus from ripening for the first day of the market but they are expected ready by next week.
Also available this week were herb and vegetables plants for your garden, and flowers for decorating your home.
One exciting news for the week is that the light frost earlier this year did little damage to the peach and apple crops and minor damage to strawberries and delicate crops already in the ground.
Even better news is knowing that Doran’s has 5,000 strawberry plants for this years crop.
