A Twist on Olives is the latest international flavored business to open in historic Uptown Westerville. Saying that it is international flavored is not just a play on words like the store’s name.
The store carries over 20 of the freshest extra virgin olive oils from around the world. Included are oils imported from both hemispheres, from countries such as Italy, Spain, Tunisia, Greece, Chile and Argentina.
It also carries 18 of the finest Solera Aged and naturally flavored balsamic vinegar condimento from Modena, Italy.
The twist in the name also applies to the store’s unique way for you to select the oil and vinegar that best fits your needs.
Take a taste. The owner, Rosa Marchi, wants you to try every oil and vinegar in the shop, any combination you want, with your favorite baguette. When you decide which one, or ones, meet you needs, she will bottle it for you from one of the collection of oils stored in fustis.
A fusti is a solid stainless steel vessel used to hold the oils. It is a single piece of stainless steel without seams preventing any buildup of residue or particles that might cause problems.
Rosa encourages you to ask questions about each oil, its country of origin, when it was pressed, its unique flavor and density, and how it might affect your cooking.
