Although not in Uptown Westerville, the planned hotel and conference center just north of Uptown will impact the city’s town center. The endangered Indiana bat habitat in a section of the woods where construction soon begins adds a few new hurdles to the project.
Westerville now is rushing to plan roads and make necessary tree removals on a project to bring an eight-story Marriott Renaissance Hotel and Conference Center to its Westar Crossing project, along Polaris Parkway.
The roads will go through a wooded swath of city-owned land south of Polaris, between Cleveland Avenue and Africa Road. And they must be cleared by March 31, to not disturb the Indiana bats’ nesting.
